1/30/2012 - Racing this Sunday!
For those of you interested and who want to get some extra track time before heading down to Oldsmar for the Gator Nationals, or if you just want the extra track time just because, we have decided to hold a race this coming Sunday, Feb. 5th at Wild Horse Creek Park in Powder Springs. It is a single point race and the race fee is only $5.00! Registration is from 12pm until 1:30pm. Racing will start ASAP after close of registration.

1/6/2012 - Important Information About Scholarship Money and End of the Year Awards
With the changes that have taken place recently and the merging of the two BMX racing sanctions, the following information will be important for you to keep in mind. Starting January 1st, 2012, in order to be eligible for end of the year awards/gifts and also to be eligible for scholarship money towards Grands entry fees, you must either submit your license renewal through Margie Hatfield and Cobb County BMX, or, have proof when submiting your renewal through the ABA (USABMX) website that one of the two Cobb County BMX tracks got credit for your renewal. Anyone listing any other track other than Cobb County BMX tracks will not be eligible for any of the awards or scholardhip money.

1/3/2012 - First Parent Association Meeting of 2012
The first parent association meeting of 2012 will be held this Saturday, January 7th at 12pm. The meeting will be held at Mazzy's Sports Bar and Grill located at 2217 Roswell Road, Marietta, GA 30062. This meeting will be mainly to elect the new officers for the 2012 season. Anyone that is currently a parent association member can renew at this meeting and if you are not a member and would like to be, you can join at the meeting. The cost if $5 per person. 12/9/2011 - CHRIS CONNELLY FUNDRAISER
Chris Connelly Fundraiser Dec. 11th Last race of the season at Noonday Park. As many of you have already heard, right before the ABA Grands, BlackCrown rider Nick Connelly’s dad, Chris, had a work related accident taking a 25 feet fall from a scaffold, breaking several bones as well as numerous other health issues. He spent numerous days in ICU and has a long recovery ahead of him and will be out of work indefinitely. As you can imagine, the expenses are growing rapidly. Since Chris is the main source of family income, the family will be in financial hardship for some time. This is even more difficult during the holiday season. Even though Christie is to proud to ask for any assistance, Cobb County BMX and BlackCrown are leading a fundraising drive for the Connellys so that we can help ease the burden for their daily living expenses and bills. We would also like to make sure Nick, Cassie and Ian have a Merry Christmas. Please consider a donation to help the Connelly family!! We know that money is tight this time of year but if you can help this wonderful family financially PLEASE come out to Noonday Park on this Sunday, December 11th. 12/6/2011 - Parents Meeting
Immediately following the race this coming Sunday at Noonday Park, there will be a short parents association meeting to discuss end of the year items and a few things for next year. Please plan on attending even if you are not a member so that you are up to date on the goings ons around Cobb County BMX!

11/6/2011 - Makeup Race Scheduled!
A race has been added to the schedule for next Sunday, November 13th at Noonday Park. This is to make up for a race that was cancelled earlier in the year.

11/6/2011 - Canned Food Drive at Powder Springs Today!
Please bring your donated canned foods to the Race on Sunday at Powder Springs to benefit Paulding County Helping Hands Food Bank. Any and all canned foods are being accepted. They are in need of especially peanut butters, jellies, and canned meats. The holidays are approaching and with two other foodbanks closing down, the needs at Helping Hands has increased tremendously. Thank You in advance for your donations.

10/25/2011 - Update for John Kovachi's Graveside Service
This is an UPDATE and CHANGE of the place for John Kovachi's graveside service. The service is at 2 pm on Thursday, Oct. 27th. The NEW location will be held at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetary, 2950 N. Cobb Parkway, Kennesaw, Ga. Please come and pay your respects for John and his family. Please pass the word. Also, Margie will be setting up a couple of tents to offer refreshments to the attendees at John's service. If you can help man the tents or want to contribute anything to it, please give Margie a call at 678-614-9702.

10/21/2011 - Ride in Memory of John Kovachi this Sunday
Come join us Sunday at Noonday BMX in Marietta @ 1:00 for an afternoon of riding and reflection. There is no race this weekend so everyone is welcome to come out and take a lap in John's memory.

10/19/2011 - The Passing of John Kovachi
It is with deep sorrow that we here at Cobb County BMX must announce the passing of our dear friend John Kovachi. As soon as any details are available concerning services for John, they will be announced on the website. Please keep John's family in your thoughts and prayers.

10/18/2011 - John Kovachi
As many of you may have heard by now, our good friend and master wheel builder, John Kovachi is gravely ill at a local Atlanta hospital. His condition has improved a little tonight from this morning which is always a good thing. But he is definitely not out of the woods by any means. We at Cobb County BMX would like to ask all of you to keep John and his family in your prayers!

10/7/2011 - Last Call for Banquet Signups
For those of you that don't know or who have not yet done so, Margie desperately needs a head count from those of you that are planning to attend the awards banquet being held on Saturday, October 15th. She also needs to hear from you even if you have signed up for it so that she can get t-shirt sizes for your rider(s). 9/15/2011 - Racing Cancelled for this Sunday and Banquet Info
Racing for this Sunday, September 18th at Noonday Park has been cancelled. The race will be scheduled for a makeup date sometime next month. As soon as we have details on the new date, we'll let you know. Also, for those of you that have not already signed up to be at our annual banquet which is to be held on October 15th from 1-3 pm at the Kennesaw Baptist Church, Margie needs a head count. We also have a form to be filled out for voting. This voting is for things like most improved rider as well as some other categories. The last chance to do this will be at the next Powder Springs race on September 25th. If you plan on attending the banquet, please give Margie a call at 678-614-9702 as soon as possible.

8/22/2011 - Possible Clinic with Dominique Daniels!
If anyone is interested in a clinic to be held by Dominique Daniels this coming Monday, August 29th, please call Margie Hatfield at 678-614-9702 to express your interest. If there is enough interest, the clinic will be approximately 2 hours long and the cost will be $20. This will only happen if Margie gets enough interest!

8/12/2011 - Track Work Day

8/3/2011 - Parent's Meeting This Sunday
This is to let everyone know that there will be a parent's meeting held immediately following the race this coming Sunday, August 7th at Noonday. Things that will be discussed include dates and awards that will be given at the end of season banquet. So we highly encourage you to attend if you would like a say in these matters.

7/7/2011 - Another BMX Training Camp Coming Your Way!
Cobb County BMX is happy to announce that we have scheduled another BMX Training and Skills Camp. The camp will be held July 26, 27 and 28th at our Powder Springs track. Cost is $100 and includes lunch each day for your rider. Spots are limited for this camp so call Margie Hatfield at 678-614-9702 to get registered! The camp will be held from 9am until 1pm each of those days.

6/3/2011 - State Qualifier Info
Just a reminder that this coming Sunday is the first of three state qualifiers that will be held towards the state championship. For those of you that don't know and are interested in going after the state championship, you must race at least two of the three state qualifiers in order to be in the running. There will be two more races. One at Long County BMX in Ludiwici, GA and one at Powder Springs. Check the schedule for details.

5/28/2011 - Race for Life Correction
In an earlier email, it was stated that the registration for tomorrow's Race for Life at Powder Springs was $20. This was incorrect. The correct regsitration for tomorrow is $10.

4/4/2011 - Help Needed Tonight
If anyone will be close by to the Powder Springs track, Jim Matrone has requested some help to assist in rolling up and storing the tarps and plastic that we used in order to cover the track this past weekend for the Dixieland Nationals. This task should not take but just a few minutes of your time if we have enough help.

4/4/2011 - Parents Meeting Scheduled
A Cobb County BMX Parents Association Meeting has been scheduled for this coming Sunday, April 10th immediately following the race. If you are an association member, we strongly encourage you to be there. Even if you are not a member, you are more than welcome to stay for the meeting just to stay up to date with current and future plans for Cobb County BMX.

3/31/2011 - Racing Tonight Cancelled
Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions, we have cancelled the pre-national local race that was to be held tonight, Thursday, March 31st. We have had the track covered to protect it the best we can from the elements and both Margie and the ABA have made the decision to leave the covers on in order to keep it in good shape for tomorrow nights ABA Pre-National.

3/30/2011 - Gate Practice Cancelled
Due to the weather conditions, gate practice for tonight, Wednesday, March 30th has been cancelled. If anyone is planning on racing at our local race tomorrow night, please be sure to check the hotline before heading to the track.

3/23/2011 - Power Springs Track is Closed!
For those of you that don't know, and for those of you that did, the Powder Springs track has been closed until at least Friday afternoon. Thanks to all of our volunteers that were able to come and work today, we managed to get four coats of sealant on the track. This is going to make for a fantastic racing surface for the Dixieland Nationals and hopefully for the rest of this season. But the sealant needs to dry and cure for at least 48 hours. So please do not go out and ride on the track. And if you know anyone that is planning to go or if you happen to be out and see anyone riding on it, please ask them to get off! It will leave ruts in the track that will not come out once the sealant is dry. Thanks for your cooperation!

3/23/2011 - Gate Practice Cancelled for Thursday, March 24th
Due to the recent maintenance and sealing of the Powder Springs track, the track has been closed and gate practice cancelled. The track will not re-open until at least Friday, March 25th. Check the hotline before heading to the track!

3/16/2011 - Free Riders Clinic and Race This Sunday!
The Season Opening FREE Race & New Rider Clinic that was originally scheduled for Sunday, March 6 has been rescheduled to this Sunday, March 20th at our Noonday track. Clinic Registration: 10:30-11AM. New Rider Clinic: 11AM-12PM. Race Day Registration/Gate Practice: 12PM-1:30PM. Racing: ASAP.

2/26/2011 - Free Riders Clinic Information
For those of you interested in the free riders clinic being held before tomorrows race at the Powder Springs track, registration will begin at 10:30am. The clinic will be held from 11am until 12pm. The cost is free but you must be an ABA member to participate and all appropriate gear must be worn (long pants or shorts with knee pads, long sleeve shirt or short sleeve shirt with elbow pads and an appropriate helmet). All forms for both the clinic and ABA membership will be available at the track in the morning. Hope to see you there!

2/15/2011 - Website Issues and Gate Practice
First of all, there is a gate practice being held tonight, Feb. 15 at Powder Springs from 6:30 until 8pm. All riding gear is required and the cost is $2. Secondly, we apologize for the late notice, but there have been some issues with our web hosting account that were not caught for some time. This caused the site to go down and did not allow us to let you know about the gate practice sooner. We have resolved the issues now and hopefully we will not have this issue again. Lastly, just to let everyone know ahead of time, we will be holding gate practices every Tuesday and Thursday nights up until the Dixieland Nationals which will be held April 1-3. As always though, please check the hotline before heading to the track to be sure there hasn't been a cancellation.

1/25/2011 - Two Items of Interest
First of all, for those who haven't noticed yet, the new race schedule for the 2011 racing season has been posted on the website. Many of you probably do not know that there is a new ABA track in Georgia. It is located in middle Georgia approximately 30 minutes Southwest of Savannah. It's called Long County BMX. Since they are now a part of the Georgia ABA family, they will have important races that we need to consider such as a State Qualifier race. We have posted a Redline Qualifier that they are holding in the schedule and as soon as we know when the State Qualifier is, we will let you know. There is also a race in Ocoee, TN included due to it's importance. Any other races that are of interest will be posted as they come up throughout the year. Also, Jeff Denton is holding a practice at the Powder Springs track this coming Sunday from 1pm until 3pm weather and track conditions permitting. Please check the hotline before heading to the track just to be sure. The standard $2 practice fee applies and you must wear all required equipment.

1/1/2011 - First Parents Meeting of 2011 Scheduled
The first parents association meeting of 2011 has been scheduled for this coming Wednesday, January 5th, 2011 at 6:30pm. The meeting will be held at the Golden Corral located at 3845 Austell Road Southwest in Austell, GA. This is in the area of the East-West Connector. We will be having elections for the officers for the 2011 season as well as going over the race schedule for the 2011 season. Any current parent association members will be required to renew your dues at this time and anyone that is not currently a member that wishes to be can join at this time. The cost is $5. Please plan on attending if you can.
