Help on BMX track in Forsyth County
 Coach Posts: 9

The Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Department is looking for feedback on what people want at county parks. They have several parks in the works and some of the guys on here have taking the lead in pushing a track on the agenda. If you could take a second and take this survey and put in that a BMX track is of public intrest it would help. It won't take but a second. Just scroll down and find where to type it in.
Here's the link: http://www.rgbaicpinc.com/forsythcounty/survey/ Thanks- Coach

We made solid progress last night dragging the last straight/rhythm section. Another Work Night is planned for tonight (Friday 7-9PM) and a third session on Monday. Tonight we will drag/rake/fill the 2nd, 3rd, and/or 4th straights (we could use any and all help). Monday, DentDog will be back on point to drag/rake/fill the 1st straight. As soon as I know what time Jeff plans to be at the track on Monday, I will post it in the forum as well as the CCBMX fb page.
It is my hope that we will have the track not only riding butter smooth, but looking "like it belongs in a park". To your point of maintaing and keeping the tracks in this condition going forward; I spoke with DentDog about scheduling a Monthly Work Session. My thought is to have the Work Sessions at WHCP/Powder Springs once a month on Thursday night in lieu of Gate Practice. Same concept applies, but Wednesdays at Noonday (I have not had a chance to speak about this topic with Carlos). I will suggest allowing Work Session Volunteers to receive their next Gate Practice FREE as a means of drumming up participation (the free gate practice idea will have to be presented to and approved by the Parent Association).

I read this TO's point of view on Vintagebmx.com and thought I would share it here.
"I guess the point of this really long winded post is that you may not have to make a track less technical or appealing to the older riders, but you NEED to start focusing on how to make a track visually appealing to newcomers. If there are no rocks in sight, grass up the the edges of each jump (see west palm) and a nice smooth surface any track looks much more inviting. Jumps can be deep, but jumps never need to be abruptly deep. If a track looks good it almost always rides good, so make your tracks look more like they belong in a park, and less like they belong next to the trails some 10 year old kids built in the woods, and I think you'd see a big improvement in newcomers."
Our tracks are an eyesore and Power is almost unrideable. When it cools off, let those of us that are not in "the inner circle" know how we can help make our tracks good again and make them look like they belong in a county park.

Know and update your links with a new Bike store in Acworth called Evolution Bikes. ( http://www.evolutionbikeco.com/ ), they do repairs, lay-a-way, sale on commission... Even have a youtube channel where they give other BMX'ers advice on stuff and what not. A cool lil group of guys in Acworth.
